Bob James' first three records have been sampled to death. Listen to any number of early hip-hop songs and you'll hear his shit (including the aforementioned "One Mint Julep") all over them.
My dad used to always yell for me from downstairs to come and figure out how to record stuff on the VCR, or to set the clock on it, or whatever.
It just took me five minutes to figure out how to make a new post on VOX. I think I am too old for this.
I'm going back to LJ where I know how it works and how to tell you what I ate for breakfast.
Finally got around to seeing Borat last night. It wasn’t the gut buster I was expecting, but it was still pretty funny. Perhaps it’s a victim of hype overload.
In other news, I picked this up last night
Post seven pieces of music you are into right now. No matter the genre, lyrics or no, they must simply be songs or music you're enjoying now. Post these instructions in your blog along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to find out what they are listening to.
Crescent
- "Abstract Forms"
I'm not much of a pot smoker, but I have to
imagine this song would provide a good soundtrack to some wicked bong
rips.
Mogwai - "We're No Here"
Another epic rocker from the
loud Glaswegians. Though I can't help but think about how this song was
featured prominently in the recent Miami Vice
flick.
Bottomless Pit - "The Cardinal
Movements"
Bottomless Pit is the new band of the surviving members
of Silkworm. Dare I say it might be one of the prettiest songs they've ever
done.
Regina Spektor - "Carbon Monoxide"
I picked
this because I had to pick one, but her last two records have been getting more
spins in the last week than anything else in my collection.
Gianfranco
Reverberi - "Nel Cimitero del Tucson"
Provided the source material for
Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy".
The Shins - "Pink Bullets"
Dunno.
It's just good.
Explone - "Slipknot Song"
No, it's
got nothing to do with those assclowns in the masks. This is my buddy and
sometime bandmate Pat's outfit, and features Andrea Maxand on the backing
vox.
